Determiners

DETERMINERS
By 'determiner' is meant a limiting word. There are many types of determiners :
Demonstrative Determiners or Adjectives : this, that, these, those
Examples :
This television and that antenna are new.
These flowers and those fruits are fresh.
Can you distribute those candies among these children?
You must put this type of books in this bookshelf.

Interrogative Determiners or Adjectives : what, which, whose
Examples :
What name did you call her?
What kind of man is he?
Which house is yours?
Whose car met an accident?

Possessive Determiners or Adjectives : my, our, your, her, his, its, their etc.
Examples :
My father taught me to obey my elders and teachers.
Your clothes are not worthy of a party.
Where is its locket?
Their letter was found in our letter-box.

Integrative Learning : Possessive Determiners are also made by the use of Apostrophe (').
Examples :
I bought some of Ambar's balls.
Father's stories are all strange.
Ramanna's friends are all rude.
This is a men's hostel.
Girls' dresses and children's dresses are all sold here.
The ticket examiner was checking the passengers' tickets.

Adjectives of Number : some, several, any, few, first, second etc.
Examples :
All students had to take one mango each.
Several tourists were stuck up due to a landslide.
Do you have a few shirts in the luggage?
She was the first scientist to notice this type of rays.

Adjectives of Quantity : much, little, some etc.
Examples :
Much food was brought and no water could be found.
I am left with a little money.
Some oil was taken out of this barrel.
There is enough sunshine outside.
