PARTICIPLES AS CONNECTORS


Different forms of Participles are :
1.      Present Participle form, made by Verb+-ing : wearing, breaking, cycling.
2.      Past Participle form, which is the III form of the Verb : worn, broken, cycled.
3.      Perfect Participle form, which is made by having+Verb (III form) : having worn, having broken, having cycled.
We can use Present Participle and Perfect Participle forms as Connectors; for example :
·         The guest enquired at the reception. He went to room number 502.
Enquiring at the reception, the guest went to room number 502.
Having enquired at the reception, the guest went to room number 502.
·         The child played with a toy. He threw it into the tub.
Playing with a toy, the child threw it into the tub.
·         The woman cooked food in the kitchen. She talked to her friend.
Cooking food in the kitchen, the woman talked to her friend.
Having cooked food in the kitchen, the woman talked to her husband.
·         Rashi was listening to music on the radio. She was dancing.
Listening  to music on the radio, Rashi was dancing.
