Interview : A Few More Questions

How Do You Like Your Last Boss.
It generally happens that the experience or treatment one has received at the hands of his boss are seldom good if there was any difference of opinion. A candidate who is serving or has served is likely to be asked “Why did you resign/ do intend to resign your earlier job?” or “What was your last boss like?” While tackling this poser, a candidate should have pragmatic approach, and in no case, should cast personal aspersions on him. He should speak positive about him. Even  if a candidate has been treated shabbily, he should not talk negative of him. It has two disadvantages. One, a person speaking ill of others begins to look desperate. Second, it shows that the candidate is not comfortable with his superiors and is not an obedient employee.
The best way to answer this query is to make out a case what he has learnt from his last boss in his personal and professional capacity. Even if he finds himself unable to speak positive about him, he should not speak negative either.

Why You Want to Switch the Job.
It is quite common for an interviewer to ask the candidate why he intends to switch over. This is a question that a candidate can reply best by taking into consideration the situation he is actually facing. We can classify the reasons for changing a job into many needs, the most important of which are : salary or money; responsibilities; desire for better designation; desire for wider experience; etc. There may be other personal reasons too depending on person to person.
As far as money factor is concerned, it is a good cause but not the sole criteria to go for a switch. It is certainly a  good excuse if the salary and other fringe benefits paid in the present organisation are below the minimum standard of industry average. This reason, coupled with other options can sound a reasonable justification. Money is just one aspect for working. The other factors that count equally forcefully are the advantages of serving in a large or professionally managed organisations. It value-adds to one’s personality and gives him wider spectrum to deal with novel situations. Stagnation or lack of further advancement in the present job too is a good cause.
