Question Tags

1. If there is an Auxiliary Verb in the sentence, a Question Tag is formed with it; for example :
She has a colourful umbrella, hasn’t she?
Are you students of this school, aren’t you?
They are not milking the cow, are they?
He does not play chess well, does he?
The monkey did not chatter loudly, did it?
I shall not write him any letter, shall I?
We have not spoken to him on this matter, haven’t we?
2.If there is no Auxiliary Verb in the sentence, the adequate form of do is used; for example :
He feels sick all the time, doesn’t he?
A cock crows in the morning, doesn’t it?
They laughed at the poor beggar, didn’t they?
Wheat grows in winter, doesn’t it?
 3. A negative tag is added to a positive statement and a positive tag is added to a negative one; for example :
The lion catches the mouse in its paw, doesn't it?
I have not met him before, have I?
2. 'Will you' is used as a Question Tag with an Imperative Sentence; for example :
Open the window, will you?
Don't shout like this, will you?
Follow the table manners, will you?
3. The negative Question Tag for I is aren't I (and not amn't I). The positive Question Tag for I is am I; for example :
I am your friend, aren't I?
I am not touching the curtain, am I?
