A candidate ought to know what stands between success and him. In other words, what are the impediments that make it difficult for him to reach to the interviewer’s heart. We can classify them into three heads as follows :
(a) Impediments to Reception
This is the stage when the interviewer is not able to receive what a candidate says. One of the following three reasons affect this understanding :
· the environment where the interview is being held has other distractions. In other words, the situation of the room or place of interview is badly selected.
· the belief, values and attitude of the interviewer are different than that of the candidate.
· the needs and expectation of the interviewer are entirely different than what the candidate is trying to say.
(b) Impediment to Understanding
The following impediments hinder the dialogue between an interviewer and interviewee in understanding properly :
· the candidate is speaking an entirely different language/dialect which the interviewer understands.
· the interviewer is not capable to receive the messages which are being delivered, due to thoughts of his self.
· where the candidate is over-precise or over-lengthy in his response to a question.
· because the interviewer thinks that there is a wide gap of status between the candidate and him, so he has some preconceived ideas about it.
(c) Impediments to Acceptance
This is a stage where the interviewer does not want to accept what the interviewee wants to say.
· prejudices against or in favour of the candidate.
· where a sense of rivalry or inter-personal conflict exists.
