An ideal teacher should have many qualities of head and
heart. He is remembered by his students for a long time. He has lasting effect on his student. He is
the one who is loved and respected by every student. He establishes a kind of
relationship between himself and his students.
An ideal teacher should be scholarly and proficient in his subject. He should teach in an
interesting way. He should be able to arouse students’ interest in the subject.
He deals with the subject well. He should express himself clearly, he should
have a good voice and must have love for teaching. The students should develop
under his teaching.
An ideal teacher makes his students think. He passes
information to them, and develops in them love for learning. He activates the
minds of his students. He teaches them how to think and cultivate logical
power. He brings into play the innate
mental faculties of his students. He
must be a man of ideas. He should explain things clearly in an interesting
manner.
An ideal teacher is a man of character. He is honest, hard
working, punctual, clean, soft-spoken, welfare-minded, self-respecting,
confident; and he possesses leadership qualities. He leads his students from ignorance to learning.
An ideal teacher uses a good language. He does not use
difficult sentences or words. His level of teaching is easy or difficult as per
the standard of students he teaches. His teaching is like a tonic to the mind.
An ideal teacher must be a cultured and civilized man. He
should have a sense of duty and responsibility. He should be honest to himself,
to his students and to his profession. He constructs the future citizens of the
country, so his job is very important. He is an engineer of the soul. In other
words, he is a student's friend, philosopher
and guide.
Students worship a teacher who remains impartial
and treats all his students alike. The worth of a teacher is not measured by
the amount of money he earns, but by the amount of help which he renders to students. If he is fearless,
earnest and sincere in duties and is
sympathetic towards his students, he is bound to be the object of their
devotion and admiration.
